Hi!
We all wanted to wish our friends in the US a Happy Thanksgiving! Keeping to the theme of being thankful, we would like to thank all the people around the world who have downloaded our poem book since it came out just a week ago. We get excited each time Melinda tells us that people from a different country have been reading our book. So far our book has gone to: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and Brazil! Thank you all! Hi there!
My first time posting on our blog! We've all been watching the film "Despicable Me 2" with Billy and his family tonight. It was hilarious! I loved the "minions", especially the bit where they are all having a massive "ice cream" party! PD, Odd Sock and I have all been running around pretending to be minions! Odd Sock wanted to be a crazy purple "transformed" minion (as she is already purple anyway). Time for us to go to bed now though... Hi everyone, PD Monkey here!
I've been out rock climbing in our local mountains of Snowdonia today, with Melinda and her friends. This picture above is of me just after I'd climbed up the rocks in the picture below. Climbers call something like that a "Chimney"... Burton Bear was reading the rest of us one of our favourite picture books last night. I don't know if you've read it too - it's called "We're Going on a Bear Hunt". A little rhyme like the book kept going round in my head while we we're climbing this. It went something like this.... We're going on a Chimney hunt! We're going on a Chimney hunt! We're not scared... Can't go over it, Can't go under it, Got to go THROUGH IT! The rhyme kept making me smile! Hope you had an exciting day today too! Billy and I watched the start of the New Zealand against England rugby match before we went to the park today.
The New Zealand team all do this really funny war-like dance at the start, called the Haka. They pull funny faces, stick their tongues out, slap themselves, and stamp their feet, while making war-like grunting sounds! We all thought it was hilarious! Billy had his thick winter coat on in the park (we've got no snow yet, unlike some parts of the UK, but it's getting pretty cold now). He then started playing about near the rugby posts in the park, pretending to do his own Haka. I said he was doing the Haka in his parka, and that was it, we both couldn't stop laughing! (Unfortunately we ended up rolling around on the grass laughing for quite a while, and we got a bit too muddy. Billy's Mum was not very pleased about that, so no hot chocolate to drink when we got home today...) It's been a few days since our various book launches, and everyone in the Top of the Wardrobe Gang is starting to settle down now, after all the initial excitement (even PD Monkey!) So, we are starting to get back to our normal routines, and to tackling our normal everyday problems.
These are probably very similar to the daily problems faced by many other cuddly toys the world over. We were all very sad last night, because Billy came home from school upset. Another little boy had been being nasty to him, and had left poor Billy feeling he was no good at anything. We tried to put Billy straight, and to tell him that we all loved him, that he was very good at lots of things, and that he shouldn't pay any attention to the nasty words being said by this nasty boy. Billy will be home from school soon (it's gone 4pm here in the UK), so we are all hoping he'll be happier tonight. Despite the cold wind, I wrapped myself in a warm blanket this afternoon, and sat under my favourite "thinking" tree at the end of the garden. I wrote down the following poem, while I was thinking about Billy, and wondering how he was getting on at school. Great news to wake up to today!
Melinda has just updated our website with buttons so you can download Books 1 and 3 straight from iBooks. (See http//:topofthewardrobegang.weebly.com, and look under our Free Books section.) We are really excited that Book 3 will now introduce more of you to our poems (and Book 1 is a better introduction to us all for older kids). Unfortunately I now need to go and tell PD Monkey that Billy's Mum says no to us having another launch party so soon. (She says we made much too much mess at the last one...) Well, there's been a LOT of excitement in the house this morning. Melinda left a note for us last night to say that one of our books is now in the iBookstore!
It is "Book 2 - Hello from the Gang!", our shorter, simpler introductory book for younger readers. So, for all of you with iPads, an iPod Touch, a Mac PC, or anything else that can download the iBooks app, please click on the button above to take you straight to our book in iBooks and PLEASE DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE NOW! Our books look much better as iBooks rather than downloaded as pain "pdf" files from our website (more like reading a book in fact, with pages that turn), so if you have the option to view them that way then please do. Now I just need to try to persuade Billy's Mum to let us have ANOTHER launch party... Burton Bear reporting : We've all had loads of fun today! Although our ebooks will have to wait to get approved for the iBookstore, Billy decided that having them here on our website for people to read was a good reason to celebrate. Oscar had heard about other people having Book Launch parties, so we thought that we should have one. Billy's Nan was here. She baked us this great cake, which Billy, TT and Odd helped her to decorate with icing. We then all played party games (I won a notepad in "pass the parcel"), drank fizzy pop, and ate sandwiches and cake. We decided to have another party every time we launch a new book. (PD Monkey wants us to have balloons for our next party.)
Oscar Rabbit said I could write our second blog post, so I'll type this in before we have our tea.
I've been out playing with Billy in the park today. I love Saturdays, as Billy doesn't have to be in school, so he can play with us all day. We had lots of fun in the park. We played ball and jumped in piles of leaves from the trees. It was a bit cold and windy though, so Billy's Mum made us both hot chocolate to drink when we got home, to help warm us up. We are new to the world of websites and blogs, so aren't too sure what we're doing yet... In case you didn't find our blog through our website, Oscar said I should tell you that it is called http//:TopoftheWardrobeGang.weebly.com 'Bye for now! (Tea's ready!) |
